What is a placement in the organic search engine results?
A placement in the organic search result on the search engines Google, Yahoo! and msn is the result you are presented with when you click on Search button, the search engine has now found the sites until they find most relevant to your search.
Example see:
If you do a google search with the keyword: "Car", you'll be presented with a search result links to websites offering relevant results for your keyword query. In this case, lies, www.bilbasen.dk the top of the results. Therefore, one can say that bilbasen.dk has position number 1 in Google search results page (SERP) of the keyword 'cars'
Why is ranking as number 1 on Google important?
A position as number 1 is simply important because approximately 40% of all searches being made on search engines, the user chooses to click through to the first site located in the search results. The website is ranked number two receiver Approximately 12%, number three 8-10%, and so on and so forth. (Fictitious numbers and percentage rates)
Example see:
If 1000 people are searching for a specific keyword on Google each day, will side with the # 2 position, receiving about 120 visitors on the specific keyword every day.
Since the position as number 1, will receive around 400 visitors from the same keyword phrase every day - more than twice as many visits as the number 2
Over a period of 5 days, since the # 2 position have had around 600 visitors, since the location number 1 had about 2000 visits ... Do you understand now why such a position as number 1 is so important for your website?
The website which is ranked number 1 on Google will probably receive more than twice as many visits via organic search result than the website which is ranked second
